Administrative services managers are responsible for planning, coordinating and directing many different services that make it possible for organizations to operate in an efficient manner. Administrative services managers typically spend most of their time in an office; however, they may also conduct site visits in the building as well as outdoors in order to supervise activities related to grounds keeping. Administrative Services Manager Training and Education Requirements
The experience and education requirements for administrative services managers tends to vary widely, based on the size as well as the complexity of the employing organization. In small companies, the only requirement may be experience. In larger organizations, administrative services managers may be required to have a bachelor’s degree as well as experience. Managers who are employed in very complex services including insurance, contract and regulatory compliance typically need a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, finance or accounting.
Facility managers usually have an undergraduate or graduate degree in architecture, engineering, business administration, construction management or facility management. Others may have a background in construction, real estate or interior design along with managerial experience.
